Bengal: How does a professional team recruit?
Zeidman: I am waiting for a call from the special teams coach for the Colts. The draft is April 25. It is crucial to find out who is interested and hopefully I'll get some bites. After that they call all of the free agents, like myself, to go and walk on. They'll draft about two punters a year. My heart's at ease about the whole situation because it's in the Lord's hands.
Bengal: How do you prepare mentally for the games?
Zeidman: I get nervous and drink a bunch of water. I try to make the day as normal as possible. I use imagery to relax and be calm. Once I'm out there, I center my mind and think about nothing else.
Bengal: Do you have any heroes?
Zeidman: Jesus is number one and my father. He is a huge supporter and flew out to about half the games. I wanted to quit football my freshman year in high school and he talked me out of it. He has always been my motivation. Bengal: What kind of training have you done since the end of football season?
Zeidman: I went down to San Diego and my dad supported me and all I did was train. I spent two hours in the weight room and practiced kicking. Now, I'm focused on quality and not quantity, I am focused and I'm getting better at positive execution.
Bengal: Do you have any hobbies?
Zeidman: I love to golf and bowl. I just started reading books, and it's pretty good. I used to never finish books but I have a passion for learning. I like to try to make my life better by relating myself to things I'm learning.
Bengal: Do you have a nickname and how did you get it?
Zeidman: Everyone calls me D. Z. My old roommate gave me the nick name D zone. It's my made up rapper name too.
Bengal: What is your favorite thing to do when you want to relax?
Zeidman: Just chill and watch a movie, just hang out and get a good stretch in. I try to meditate and use breathing techniques to relax my body.
