Brigham Young Red Desert Classic
Idaho State University faced four teams in The Brigham Young Red Desert Classic played in St. George, Utah. On February 8, the Bengals lost to Southern Utah University, 6-3. On February 9, ISU barely lost to Utah Valley State College with a score of 5-4. Utah State University swept the Bengals aside with a 4-1 Victory. In ISU's final Red Desert Classic game on February 10, University of Rhode Island beat the Bengals 5-2.
ISU fought hard in the Red Desert classic, showing improvement from the previous year. They allowed less than one hit per inning and a total of 20 runs in the four games they played. In the previous year at the Red Desert Classic, ISU allowed 25 hits in the innings and a total of 44 runs.
Arizona State Kajikawa
Classic
ISU played five teams in the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State, and came home with one win and four losses. The Bengals lost their first game on February 15 against the University of Nebraska with a score of 5-3.
On February 16, ISU played in two games at the Kajikawa Classic. In the first, against Temple University, ISU took their first lead of the season in the bottom of the fourth by taking a walk with the bases loaded for a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately this lead did not last as Temple ended the game with an 8-5 victory. The second game, against Northwestern College, ended with a 14-2 loss for the Bengals.
On February 17, ISU played both the University of Memphis and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Their first game of the day ended with a 10-1 loss to Memphis.
In ISU's second game of the day against UMKC the Bengals broke their eight-game losing streak taking the lead for good in the second when Whitney Chaffe doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. The game ended with a 7-4 victory for the Bengals.
The Pepsi Malihini Kipa
Aloha Tournament
The ISU Softball team was invited to the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha, Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Bengals played five different teams at this tournament, including the Netherlands National Team, in their first game on March 6. The Netherlands took the win at 3-0.
