Kyle Prolo ties for sixth

The Bengal men's golf team finished in 12th place after three rounds of the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, competing (at the par 71 Rancho San Marcos Golf Course Tuesday. Idaho State achieved a three-round score of 931 (+79). Though the Bengals struggled as a team, Junior Kyle Prolo gave an excellent performance during the tournament.

Prolo led the Bengals with an impressive three-round score of 216, just three over par, to tie for sixth place. Prolo had an memoreble first round with a score of 68 (-3). However, his second round score put him behind when he shot a 78 (+7). He redeemed himself in the third round by shooting a 70, one under par. This is his second top-ten finish of the season; his first came at the American Sky Conference in September. Prolo improves to five career top-ten finishes.

Junior Dylan Meyer tied for 46th place after his third round score of 74 (+3). He finished with a three-round score of 229 (+16). Mark Cowman, a junior, shot a 77 (+6) for a three-round score of 236 (+23). Freshman Nick Morrison had a difficult third round when he shot a 90 (+19) to finish in 78th place with a three-round score of 250 (+37). Steve Peters withdrew from the tournament after the second round, while Jeremy Colson, competing as an individual, withdrew the first round then hit an 86 (+15) in the second round and a 93 (+22) in the third round.

Cal State Northridge took first place with a three-round score of 855 (+3). Troy Merritt of Boise State won the individual title with an exceptional three-round score of 199 (-14), eight strokes ahead of Cal State Northridge's Nick Delio who hit a 207 (-6). Merritt's performance earned him a tie for the OGIO-Pacific Coast Intercollegiate record.

The Bengals will compete in their final competition of the season April 18th and 19th in Provo, Utah at the Cougar Classic.
