Scholarship
Autumn Gomez is the recipient of the 2008 Fulbright Scholarship. She is the fourth ISU student to receive the Fulbright Scholarship in recent years. Gomez is a senior majoring in Spanish and International Studies. The Fulbright Scholarship will enable her to work as an English teaching assistant in the secondary schools of the Principality of Andorra.
Gomez plans to reside in Andorra from September 1, 2008 until June 30, 2009.
ISU Baton Twirler goes abroad
Diana Guy has been twirling her baton at ISU for the past six years and her hard work has paid off. She has been given an opportunity to perform in Japan this summer. Guy will be featured in a production called Blast. After graduation this May, Diana will head to training for Blast. After receiving training in Indiana during the month of June, Guy will travel to Japan. She will perform in 59 productions of Blast from July until September.
Stuart Summers named Student Employee of the Year
The Advisor of the Student Activities Board, Stuart Summers, received the honor of Student Employee of the Year Friday, April 18. As Student Employee of the Year, Summers received a 2,000-dollar scholarship and a plaque with his name on it. Summers earned this title by following through with many of his ideas this year, including the ISU Gallery Art Walk. Summers also took the plunge and changed the name of the Program Board to the Student Activities Board, making it more recognizable as a student organization. Other students recognized as great student employees include Rikki Procter, Joshua Moor and Tereza Prihodova. Rikki Procter was awarded the 600 dollar Lupher Scholarship, Joshua Moor received a University Bookstore gift certificate and Tereza Prihodova earned a free General Parking Pass.
