ISU football's second spring scrimmage

Ken Cornist rushed for 51 yards on seven carries, showing good upfield speed. Kenyon Blue added 36 yards on seven carries, Joe Strayhand had 23 yards on three rushes, and Jesse Hofhine rushed for 14 yards on three carries. Two receivers got in on the act as Edsel Logan rushed once for 40 yards and a touchdown, and Jaron Taylor had one rush for six yards.
Defensively, Keith Goins, Jr. was solid with eight tackles to lead everyone. He also picked up the only turnover on the day with a diving interception of Kyle Blum. Jeremy Gibson, Brad Rife, Mike Jablonsky, and Josh Crittenden all recorded sacks. Along with Goins' eight tackles, Nic Edgson had five, and Phillip Arias, Gibson and Scot Allen each had four.
The Bengals will have one more week of practice on Tuesday and Thursday before playing their annual Spring Game on Friday night at 6:00 pm in Holt Arena.
NOTES: The Bengal coaching staff and about 30 players will be at the Idaho Food Bank on the corner of 2nd and Terry on Monday night to help sack potatoes for needy families. The media is encouraged to attend as the players will be available for interviews at that time. Jon Vanderweilen, who is expected to take over for Dan Zeidman as the team's punter, averaged 43.0 yards on his six punts, and he hit one 50-yarder with the wind, and one against it..
