Longtime Idaho State University play-by-play announcer, Jerry Miller, has officially been named the lead broadcaster for Idaho State's football and men's basketball coverage for the 2008-09 season, replacing Russ Eisenstein. Eisenstein informed the university that he would be taking over as the broadcast director for Ohio University's football and men's basketball program and was officially introduced at Ohio University on Thursday Aug. 7. Interim Director of Athletics, Jeff Tingey, also announced that along with Miller switching to football and men's basketball, Mark Liptak will take over as the lead announcer for women's basketball.
"While we hate to lose someone like Russ, we are thrilled that Jerry Miller will be able to bring the excitement of Bengal football and basketball to our fans throughout Southeast Idaho," said Tingey. "Jerry has a long history with our program, and I think our fans will love hearing him call games again."
Miller will team with Brad Bugger, longtime color analyst, and Liptak will man the studio show. In men's basketball, Miller will team up with Bugger for home contests and selected road games, and Assistant A.D. for Media Relations, Frank Mercogliano will fill in on some road games. Liptak will handle the women's basketball broadcasts at home, with former Bengal Kaylynn Fager. Mercogliano and Annie Anderson will again head KISU's coverage of women's soccer, and Matt Steuart and Cade Vance will be again handling women's volleyball. Miller will also broadcast ISU's Monday night "Dinner with the Coaches" show. ISU football and men's basketball is broadcast on the Bengal Radio Network, flagshipped in Pocatello, on ESPN Radio KSEI-930 AM, and via the Internet, courtesy of Stretch Internet and Cedar Hills Family Dentistry and Dr. Mike Sutton.
Miller has a long-standing history, not just with Idaho State athletics, but in broadcasting in general. Miller served as the "Voice of the Bengals" from 1982-94, covering many great moments in ISU history, including the 1994 regular season men's basketball title, ISU's last NCAA Tournament game in 1987 and several signature football moments
