Cerovsek is the guest artist for the Idaho State Civic Symphony opening concert for the 2008 to 2009 season on Oct. 3, 2008. The performance for that evening will feature Cerovsek playing Beethoven's Violin Concerto.
Cerovsek was born in 1972 in Vancouver, Canada, and is now residing in Paris. He began playing the violin at the age of five. After early studies with Charmian Gadd and Richard Goldner, he graduated at age 12 from the University of Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music. That same year, he was accepted as a student at Indiana University, where he received bachelor's degrees in mathematics and music at age 15, masters in both at 16 and completed his doctoral course work in mathematics and music at age 18.
The opening concert is co-sponsored by Key Bank of Idaho and Varsity Contractors, Inc. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by calling 234-1587. Tickets will also be available at the Stephens Performing Arts Center beginning Sept. 29. Adult tickets are $25 and tickets for students through high school are $12.
